TJ Beisner arrived in Chapel Hill in October of 2023 to assist in the University of North Carolina’s NIL efforts after spending the previous two years as the Director of Player Development on the University of Kentucky men’s basketball staff.
While at Kentucky, Beisner managed Name, Image and Likeness strategy and was at the center of all player development, recruiting and operations initiatives for the men’s basketball program, including new media partnerships, summer camps, apparel, creative scheduling ideas and on-campus events.
During this time, Beisner’s NIL strategy and support helped sign six players rated as five-star prospects, including four players (Shaedon Sharpe, Aaron Bradshaw, DJ Wagner, Justin Edwards) who were ranked at one time as the the No. 1 overall player in their class and eleven players would go on to sign NBA contracts, with seven (Sharpe, Tyty Washington, Cason Wallace, Chris Livingston, Reed Sheppard, Rob Dillingham and Antonio Reeves) being selected in the NBA Draft. Beisner also worked closely with the unanimous 2022 National Player of the Year, Oscar Tshiebwe, on managing his endorsement opportunities and rules surrounding his status as an international student.
Additionally, under Beisner’s leadership, the Kentucky men’s basketball program set a record for total community service hours and saw the program’s first player in over a decade be inducted into Kentucky’s Frank G. Ham Society of Character. Beisner also launched The Unity Series, a partnership which shared campus resources with historically black colleges and universities, helped raise over $9 million for natural disaster relief and negotiated and executed the first-ever partnership between a college and The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.
Beisner also served as an adjunct instructor in the University of Kentucky’s College of Communication and Information.
A native of Coppell, Texas, Beisner and his wife, Monique, have two sons: Tyler and Will.
